better business act
a m impact is one of more than 3,000 companies supporting a small but mighty shift in the way the UK does business by joining the Better Business Act coalition. The aim of the coalition is to create a change in UK company law to require that company directors align social and environmental impact with shareholder returns.
A key part of a m impact's purpose is to address social and environmental injustice. We believe that organisational governance plays a key part in making sure that positive action is consistently and meaningfully achieved. Research has already proved that by changing the Companies Act in line with the Better Business Act, the UK would benefit financially, socially and in terms of climate and nature. There are no losers. That's why we joined the Better Business Act coalition within the first few weeks of setting up.

In acknowledgment of the escalating, interdependent crises the world faces, and together with other Business Declares members, we declare there is a climate, ecological and social emergency. We make this declaration with urgency and in certainty that the impacts these crises will have on our society, economy and the environment, will be near-term, fundamental and far reaching for all including ourselves, our business and our stakeholders. Our declaration, in line with the Business Declares Manifesto, and building on our plans and progress, is underpinned by our commitment to:
publish, which will outline how we will address all three dimensions of the crises through our core business activities, both to mitigate the impact on us all and to improve our organisational resilience; and
use the power of our individual and collective voices to advocate for policy changes and other transformations necessary to catalyse meaningful action in recognition that the current system with its prioritisation of short-term economic returns and growth is failing us.
